Recap
- The party, having rested, plans to retrieve the stolen bones from Lady Fiona Wachter's estate.
- They first go to the Baron's mansion to inform him of Lady Wachter's suspected treason, hoping to gain his support or at least a distraction.
- They meet Izek Strazni at the door, who is reluctant to let them in, but after a persuasion check, they gain entry and meet Baron Vargas Vallakovich and his wife.
- The Baron is skeptical but eventually agrees to send Izek and four guards to inspect the Wachter house.
- The party, with Izek and guards in tow, approach the Wachter estate.
- Eli (Isaac) uses his cap of vanishing to become invisible and slips ahead to scout the house.
- They convince Izek to check the cellar door where they saw the vampire spawn enter.
- As the guards confront Lady Wachter at the front, Eli sneaks into the house through a secret door and searches upstairs.
- He finds a set of bones, along with a mysterious sword hilt, in a locked chest in the master bedroom.
- He also discovers a cult gathering in the basement, with a pentagram and an altar.
- After grabbing the bones and hilt, Eli exits through a back door, barely escaping a kitchen guard.
- Returning to the church, they present the bones to Father Lucian Petrovich, but he reveals they are not the bones of St. Andral.
- He identifies them as belonging to a man named Leo de Licinia, an enemy of the Wachter family who betrayed Strahd centuries ago.
- The party realizes they have stolen the wrong bones.
- They decide to return to the Wachter house to find the real bones.
- After a long rest, they plan to sneak back in, using Eli (Isaac)'s invisibility and 2Feet (Steph)'s tremor sense to navigate.
- Eli sneaks in, but in the basement he is attacked by skeletons and is forced to fight and flee, managing to grab a hip bone from the altar.
- The party escapes with the hip bone.
- They take the hip bone to Father Lucian Petrovich, who thanks them for returning it to the church altar, believing it to be part of the true relics.
- The party then secures a room at the Blue Water Inn for the night and receives a letter from Vasili von Holtz saying
==My brave outlanders, I commend your valiance in restoring the spirits of the Laki's good people. Enjoy your sanctuary while its life endures. The night is long, and we shall meet soon.
